Originally designed by Finnish designer Paavo Tynell in 1935 for the Hotel Aulanko, the 9602 Floor Lamp—often referred to as the “Chinese Hat”—embodies Tynell’s graceful blend of craftsmanship and lightness. Its wide, flared shade and rattan-wrapped stem create a composition that feels both sculptural and serene.
An early example of modern Scandinavian design, the lamp’s airy silhouette and natural materials bring a sense of warmth and elegance to interior spaces. Reissued by GUBI, the 9602 Floor Lamp continues to capture Tynell’s poetic balance of form and function, offering soft, ambient illumination suited to living areas or reading nooks.
